The Film : A year-long foray into the life of the Farmers of The Klamath Basin
The Farmers of the Klamath Basin are being driven out of business. Whether it's climate change, Government mismanagement, or just the challenges of being a farmer in modern America, they are running out of options.
We will tell a year-long story of how the farmers of the Klamath Basin have gotten a raw deal when it comes to the B.O.R. and the Federal Government—starting this fall. We will chronicle how avian botulism, water shortages, federal inaction, and drought affect the lives of our Klamath County neighbors. The survival of agriculture in the basin is at risk and by telling this story we hope to ensure its survival.
With innovations like the plan to replumb the Klamath Basin and restart the microclimate that once made this basin the Everglades of the West and other strategies to reverse the desertification of this unique landscape, it is time to tell the story of what is at risk if we continue to make the farmers of the basin the last priority when it comes to water.
The Klamath Irrigation District has seeded our project with funding and collaboration, and we are working to raise an additional $10,000 to fund this documentary so that the rest of our Nation can see how the past failed policies have jeopardized our Nation's future.
